Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is a unique medical science that incorporates a wide variety of treatments and procedures to aid patients in restoring maximum body function, reduce pain and help to prevent future injury. Medicomp’s clinical team devise individualized treatment plans to achieve the specific goals of each patient. Patients are referred to our program after an initial physical examination and diagnosis by a physician. At the first visit, a patient undergoes an initial evaluation and an individualized treatment program is designed, in conjunction with the physician's prescription, to meet the patient's specific rehabilitative needs. Under the direct supervision of a Medicomp physical therapist, patient goals are discussed and established. Once individual patient goals are set, treatment begins. Depending on the goals, various physical therapy treatment regiments will be utilized to achieve the most successful outcome.
Occupational Therapy
Medicomp Occupational Therapists are fully proficient in the treatment of hand and upper extremity pathologies, from the chronic to the acute. Our therapists design each treatment based on the physician's diagnosis and the specific needs of the patient. The most common conditions treated include, fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, tendon injuries, peripheral nerve injuries, crush injuries and repetitive motion disorder. The scope of hand/occupational therapy services offered include: range of motion exercises, work hardening, work simulation, strengthening, dexterity training, wound and scar management, edema control, and pain control.
Speech Therapy
Medicomp Speech Therapists assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, fluency, and other related disorders. We offer speech and language services to both children and adults. Treatments may include physical exercises to strengthen the muscles used in speech (oral-motor work), speech drills to improve clarity, or sound production practice to improve articulation.

Our athletic trainers are an integral part of public and private sports programs across the state of Mississippi. Medicomp’s ATC program partners with high schools, and league sports teams to best serve individual athlete performance and safety. Our trainers work closely with team physicians and coaches to ensure that athletes compete safely and reach their highest potential.
Sports Performance
Medicomp’s Sports Performance program provides individual athletes and entire teams with customized plans to improve strength training, conditioning, and performance. Medicomp employs several Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS), this certification combined with their physical therapy expertise makes our program a safe and highly effective program for athletes of all levels. Our staff conducts sport-specific testing sessions, designs and implements safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and provides guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention.
Aquatic Therapy
Our Aquatic Therapy program utilizes treatment in our HydroWorx pool at our Dogwood Physical Therapy clinic. HydroWorx is used by collegiate and professional sports rehabilitation programs across the country. Our warm-water aquatic therapy incorporates the properties of water to positively impact movement, strength and function. The buoyancy of water provides a safe, effective and less painful medium to exercise specific muscle groups and joints with substantially less compressive forces than other types of exercise. We utilize techniques that build on water's natural resistance to improve quality and strength of movement. Our HydroWorx pool features an underwater treadmill, resistance jets and an underwater video monitor system. The therapeutic, non-weight-bearing properties of water create an ideal rehabilitation environment, especially for post-operative patients or those with back injuries.
